Nearly a decade ago, actors and screenwriters Rachel Noll James (The Storyteller) and Austin Highsmith Garces (Dolphin Tale) began working on a story that has now become Inheritance, the second feature-length movie from Emergence Films.

Bainbridge has a robust craft, design and literature scene, but another artistic pursuit is emerging: film.

The island is home to experienced and burgeoning directors and screenplay writers — and unlike other film scenes, the BI power players are mostly women.

Be patient. I can say this because I was the most impatient person alive when I started. I thought if it didn’t happen for me in 6 months I was a failure. I thought if other people weren’t giving me their praise and validation I was a failure. The patience piece is as much about giving yourself time to create tenure for your work and your talents, but also to grow into yourself, get to know the industry, and really get clear on what you want and WHY you want it.
